Holy laughter is a move of the Holy Spirit that has been confusing for some people making the experience controversial. When it comes to the move of God, anyone can receive or reject the manifestations of His glory.
Over the years, I've seen one person in the crowd fully desire healing and the person sitting next to them rejecting healing. The person who rejects the healing won't receive it. Holy laughter is even harder for some people to receive. Not only because they might reject it but also because it's hard to let go of the pain they feel inside. When the Holy Spirit fills someone with joy, the joy squeezes out the pain, and the joy coincides with a manifestation of laughter. Some people call it "laughing in the spirit." Here's a picture of me and a young lady in Chicago. The ministers in JTM and I were evangelizing on some of the most dangerous streets of Chicago. This young lady was in so much pain but when the Holy Spirit healed her from 25 years of pain, she laughed and laughed and laughed. Listen to her testimony here.
Someone might think, "Why reject laughter? Shouldn't everyone want to laugh?" Think about a time when you felt sad, betrayed, or hurt. Was it difficult to let go and enjoy life? Well, it's not always easy to enjoy life when we feel like life has been hard on us and there's nothing to be happy about. As a matter of fact, you probably can think of someone that needs to lighten up.
Here's a quick video for you to watch. At this Deliverance and Healing Conference, children and adults received healing as the Holy Spirit touched them. Someone may wonder why children need to be touched by the Holy Spirit. I ask you this; Does the devil choose to hold off attacks until a certain age? The answer is no! Of course, they need the touch of the Holy Spirit. I often minister to children who have been abused, forgotten, unheard, and overlooked. Their pain is real and they need to laugh too.
What is the Holy Spirit doing?
The Holy Spirit knows exactly what we need and how to deliver it to us. Holy laughter is a similitude of spontaneous laughter that is an utterance led by the Holy Ghost. Before we go deeper, I'd like to discuss the importance of the many roles of the Holy Spirit.
He is part of the Godhead (God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit). Abba Father is in Heaven. Jesus has ascended to heaven. Holy Spirit is here on earth working with us. He has been on earth since before Jesus was born.
Genesis 1:2
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The Spirit of the Lord
The Spirit of Wisdom
The Spirit of Understanding
The Spirit of Counsel
The Spirit of Might
The Spirit of Knowledge
The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord
Isaiah 11:2
And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

We witnessed so much transformational power of God in Pakistan, that there was no way to record it all but we tried to condense what we had for you to enjoy seeing God's love for Pakistan.
The Holy Spirit gives out the measures of gifts according to His will. Each gift is special and God wants us to use them. Can you imagine having precious gifts that a loved one gave you and not wanting to open them? What if you decided that you only wanted gifts that made you feel comfortable with your sorrow?
While I was on a mission in Uganda, I met an elderly minister who said she didn't speak in tongues. She said that she told God she only wanted to speak in tongues if He also gave her the interpretation of tongues. So she prayed for God to remove it from her because she didn't understand what she was saying. She asked me for help and as usual, I put my momma hat on and corrected her for trying to control God and manipulate her gifts. I had her repent for dispising the gifts and ceasing the move of the Holy Spirit through her vessel.
Immediately after repentance, she began to speak in tongues! Here's a side note, there are multiple types of tongues and most people are speaking from a place of prayer, not divers tongues. Also, as an interpreter of tongues, I could tell her that the gift of interpretation of tongues is rare and people who have it are usually nervous about applying it. 1 Corinthians 14:39
Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
1 Corinthians 12:10
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.
According to 1 Corinthians 12:11, the Holy Spirit distributes gifts at the measure of His choosing.
"But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."
Have you ever felt sad or hurt and a friend tried to make you laugh about something? This is very common and even animals try to cheer up their owners. Why do people do that? Because laughing is a healing ointment. Some people have made this complicated when it's not complicated.
God does not want you depressed and sometimes, He'll unction you to laugh. He doesn't want you to worry either. He'd rather you laugh at the plan of the enemy.
God laughs; so why shouldn't you?
Job 8:21
Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.

Some people will argue that joy is not holy laughter but who are we to determine for God how He should operate? Cessationists don't believe in any revelatory gifts and want them to cease. Scripture tells us not to quench the Holy Spirit. We are supposed to use the gifts for God's glory. We should also demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit.
I've seen people invest and believe in psychics but not prophets of God. Is the devil mightier than God? No! The devil can only attempt to duplicate and manipulate what God has already set in order. It's terrible to give more credit to the enemy than to God. As a matter of fact, it's absurd!!!
When someone is experiencing holy laughter, the Holy Spirit is laughing through them. Here are a few things that happen during that blessed time.
Depression is rooted out
Sadness goes
Worry is cut down and no longer exalted
Joy is received
Increased trust in God
